Life is a series of present wondrous moments...
Life is a series of present wondrous moments •
These current times forcing us all into solitude whether we prefer it or not can be challenging. However, even as I am pressed, I choose to keep in mind something I learned 5 years ago which saved my life:
Even as there is disaster both within and without — both in our minds and in our surroundings — focusing our attention always on what we are doing in the present moment can save us a lot of grief.
It is very easy for the mind to become frayed, pondering on all that is wrong and what is impossible to change. However, this is what we must remember: somethings are impossible to change, and focusing on that does nothing for anyone.
If we can draw our minds back from the dark depths and onto our breath, our steps, the dishes we are washing, the smiles of our loved ones — if we can focus on what we are doing in the present moment, we can find joy even in the most difficult of circumstances. There is still joy around to be found, we simply must focus on it, as the surrounding circumstances inevitably change with time.
I hope this realization and practice helps you just as much as it has helped me, both as it continues to today, as well as so long ago... •
